Going out? These are a few places that I’ve been and/or heard good things about. They’re not all Texas BBQ but if you’re looking for someting smoky, you shouldn’t be disappointed.
- Smokesmanship (Karuizawa)
- Texas-style BBQ. They’re a few hours outside of Tokyo but I’ve heard it’s worth the trip.
- T’s BBQ (Chiba)
- Texas-style BBQ. The head chef, Suzuki-san learned brisket in Texas.
- Freeman Shokudo (Tokyo)
- Brooklyn Backyard BBQ. Think corned beef and pastrami done low and slow.
- Midtown BBQ (Yokohama)
- Barbecue dishes, smoked beers and craft beers. They also have locations in Nagoya and Tokyo.
- Charcoal Grill Green (Yokohama)
- Big Iowa BBQ (Roppongi, Tokyo)
- Libushi Bashamichi (Yokohama)
- This place is a 2-fer. Their food menu is eclectic and always changing and they’re also the tasting room for AJBC (Anglo Japanese Brewing Company). Their head brewer, Chris Macomber, is a dude. ’nuff said.
